Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV

.KEY MESSAGES...

* Warmer and calmer conditions develop over the next several days
before a system brings another shot of gusty winds and cooler
  temperatures by mid/late week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Today through Friday.

High pressure will build over the region leading to above normal
temperatures and lighter winds. Temperatures will climb steadily
over the next few days, peaking on Wednesday about 10 to 15 degrees
above normal. Winds will generally remain light except for some
daily afternoon breezes across western San Bernardino County each
afternoon. There will be a weak disturbance undercutting the ridge
Monday which will also pull up some moisture into Arizona. Average
PWs for this time of year generally range around 0.25", but the
models are showing PWs of 0.50"-0.60" being pulled into portions of
Mohave County. This moisture will be combined with some weak
instability may lead to some isolated thunderstorms (~20%) Monday
afternoon across the far eastern areas of Mohave County, generally
north of I-40 into the Arizona Strip. Outside of any lightning, the
main threat will be some isolated gusty winds with any storm. This
disturbance will quickly exit the area Tuesday with the high
reestablishing over the region.

Unsettle weather still looks like it will return later in the week
with cooling temperatures, increasing southwest winds, and
precipitation chances. The latest ensemble runs are in better
agreement with the timing with increasing southwest winds Thursday
and Friday along with temperatures starting a downward trend. It
does not look like this system will tap into any significant
moisture plume and at this time, it looks like most of the
precipitation will be confined to the higher terrain late in the
week.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 12Z Forecast Package...

day before becoming SCT to BKN Sunday evening into Monday morning.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 12Z Forecast Package... Winds along the
Colorado River Valley will remain elevated through mid-morning
before finally diminishing below 10 knots in the afternoon.
Elsewhere across the region, light winds expected. VFR conditions
will prevail at all TAF sites, with FEW to SCT clouds with bases AOA
20kft AGL into the afternoon. &&
